Pete Border is a researcher in the High-Energy Physics Group at the University of Minnesota, where he also teaches freshman physics. He has developed and taught a course on “Physics for Game Designers” at the U, and has also co-taught (with Prof. Lester Shen) a course on “Visualizing Physics” at the Minneapolis College of Art and Design. This year the game designers course will include a section in a MMORPG, which should be interesting. In his spare time, Dr. Border works on simulating physics labs with Java 3D, pov-ray and Vpython, and has been working on a simple cognitive model of dialog for computer-generated NPCs. He has been playing computer games since discovering "Adventure" on the campus mainframe in the late 1970's.
