TIME AND INTERACTIVITY

Stephen Eakin (pronounced A-kin) is an MFA candidate in Time and Interactivity at the University of Minnesota. While obtaining his Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in both Studio Art and Film Studies, he worked primarily in sculpture and video installation. Since then, he has added interactivity to his vocabulary, utilizing computer technologies such as Max/MSP/Jitter. Stephen’s work searches for an understanding of the ways in which physical space, social space, and mental space intersect. He will discuss the development of a current project whose interface incorporates a cord that guides a viewer through a video projection, as well as a super-8mm film project that explores the death of his father after a yearlong battle with brain cancer.
